(210 km)

Departure to reach Thonon les Bains, official start of the "Route des Grandes Alpes".
We begin our tour with a "quiet" journey towards Morzine and Les Gets and then on to Taninges and Cluses. Then after a short pause for a coffee, we start things a little more serious with the climb of the Colombiere pass (1613m) and then arrival in Le Grand Bornand. Follow the road to La Clusaz and the Aravis pass (1486m). The Col des Aravis was a place to stroll of the first English tourists in the late nineteenth century. Beautiful balcony on the whole Mont Blanc massif chain. The separation between the High and Savoy is visible here by, says the legend, a heavenly furrow right of the chapel built in the pass for the salvation of the nineteenth century merchants who spent the winter here. Stop at the top to enjoy the scenery and take pictures. Proceed to Flumet, Notre Dame de Bellecombes, the Saisies pass. At 1650m above sea level and only 30 km from Albertville, discover a privileged site: the Saisies pass, between the Beaufortain Valley and the Val d'Arly, but also a link between the departments of Savoie and Haute Savoie. Then it will be Beaufort, the Meraillet pass (1605m), the Cormet de Roselend (1963m)  to arrive around 16:30 / 17:00 to Bourg St Maurice. You will pass by Bourg St Maurice and short ride to Sainte Foy Tarentaise.

A day at high altitudes awaits you! You will leave to the dam of Tignes till Val d'Isère and the Iseran pass. The Iseran pass, indicated by the road at 2770 meters above sea level but indicated, as the maps to 2762 or 2764 m, is the highest mountain range in the Alps and France. It is located in Savoie in the Vanoise National Park, between the Vanoise massif and Grées Alps. It connects the valleys of the Arc (Maurienne) and Isère (Tarentaise, for the upstream part). This is not the highest road in the Alps as one of the top of the Bonnette reaches 2.802 meters above sea level, but it does not is a pass road. After taking pictures, looked at the landscape, you will continue to Bonneval sur Arc, our Lady of Grace, St. Anthony to reach Lans Lebourg Mont Cenis. Departure to Le Vernay, Bramans, St Michel de Maurienne and finally 3 very known passes: The Telegraphe pass, Galibier The mythical pass (2646 m!) and finally The Lautaret. The Telegraph Pass is a stage of the Tour de France since 1947, at an altitude of 1566 m - the pass is so called because of a Chappe telegraph tower, folding arm, built in 1807 on the edge of the cliff.
The Col du Lautaret is situated in the Hautes-Alpes (05) in the PACA region, at an altitude of 2058 m. This is the crossing point between the Oisans and the Briançonnais. This is one of the lowest points of the ridge line between the Northern Alps and the Southern Alps. Descent to Briançon and climb to a nearby ski resort.

(170 km)

Departure to new passes in the Southern Alps, and among the most impressive.
Crossing Briançon, the City of Vauban (with recommended walk in the city center which is remarkable) and drive to Cervières, the Isoard Pass (2360m), Chateau Queyras and St Veran. Highest village in Europe perched at 2042 meters, the village of Saint Veran and its two hamlets Raux and Chalp, benefit as the rest of the region with a dry and sunny climate and is surrounded by mountains to over 3000 meters. Saint Veran has a long historical past that dates back to antiquity and has experienced all the vicissitudes of the history of the Dauphiné and our country. Free time for personal tour of this beautiful village or for lovers of additional turns, we will return our steps a few kilometers to the Italian border and climb the Agnel pass. Then comes the "way down" towards the Combe du Queyras, Guillestre and Vars - You will cross the Vars pass. Then we continue towards St Paul S / Ubaye, Le Pas de la Reyssole, La Condamine, Chatelard and Barcelonnette. Ideally located in the heart of the valley of Ubaye, Barcelonnette is a small mountain town with many facets. She is the "alpine capital" of the Alpes de Haute Provence. Due to its geographical location, summer and winter, you will discover its natural and cultural riches. Barcelonnette seduce you with its atmosphere both southern and mountain. On 28 and 29 November 2004, the town of Barcelonnette and the Valle de Bravo site located in the State of Mexico (or 107 kilometers from the Mexican capital), have chosen to match and work to live historical and cultural ties that unite them since the time of the first Barcelonnettes emigrants to Mexico.

Ride to Menton for this last day in the Alpine peaks, with still some great turns!
Departure to Guegnier, Villard, Le Pis  and two highest passes in Europe: Le Restefond and the Bonnette passes. The Col de la Bonnette is one of the highest peaks French Road. There is la Bonnette Pass and Restefond Pass, it should not be confused.
la Bonnette Pass is the transition from the rocky ridge to 2 715m and Restefond Pass is located 2680m, after the Barracks Restefond... Then road via St Etienne de Tinee, Isola, St Sauveur de Tinée, Rimplas La Bolline, St Martin pass and St Martin de Vésubie then we will make a detour to Lantosque. You'll be on the way to Venanson, La Bollene Vesubie and the Turini pass, famous stage of Monte Carlo Rally. Located 1607m above sea level, the Turini pass has seen the greatest drivers in the rally history, reserving each time its share of surprises. Then you'll reach Moulinet, Pian Gorges, Ste Madeleine, Sospel, Barbonnet, the Castillon pass, the Caramel bridge and arrival in Menton.
