Inaugurated in 1953, the “Route des Vins d'Alsace” is one of the oldest Wine Route in France. First, popular tourist rally, she became one of the jewels of Alsace! It winds of 170 km, from north to south through the region and 70 wine villages that are deemed to be the most beautiful villages of Alsace.

After a succession of pretty villages you will arrive in Molsheim.

Molsheim was in the XVII th century a bastion against the reform.

Then stop in Obernai

Obernai experienced its golden age in the sixteenth century with its crafts and its viticulture.

Stop and stroll in Barr village

Its historical center, remarkably preserved, has a number of beautiful timbered houses. In addition, Barr is still uncrowded, which makes the ride much more enjoyable.

Way toward Dambach-la-ville.

Dambach-la-Ville is one of those charming Alsacian villages, little known to visitors, but which nevertheless offer a beautiful homogeneous group where we can find timbered houses or very flowery rebirth and beautiful fountains.

Arrival in Selestat

At the heart of Alsace, between Colmar and Strasbourg, Selestat remains poorly known and little visited. Yet it has beautiful monuments, but especially the one of only two humanist libraries in Europe, not to be missed.

(70 km)

Today shows and return to the past. Departure for Kintzheim where you'll find the Eagle Park.

Nearby Haut-Koenigsbourg and the wine route, stand on top of a hill the ruins of the medieval castle of Kintzheim. You can see evolve over the old mossy walls, large dark wings, raptors are masters of the place. The Eagle Park gives visitors the unique opportunity to observe and admire in the sky, or a few centimeters of them, the finest and largest raptors in the world, in an impressive show where emotion is great and the sensations guaranteed.

A few minutes away is the Monkey Mountain then you will arrive in Haut Koenigsbourg fortress.

Here almost 900 years the distinctive silhouette of Haut-Koenigsbourg castle marks the Alsatian countryside.

Back to the Wine route and stop to Ribeauville then stop to Riquewihr.

Riquewihr is regarded, rightly, as one of the most precious jewels of a region not stingy in wonders! Known as the pearl of the vineyards, this fortified city finds its origins in the Middle Ages.

Way to Kaysersberg, Niedermorschwhir, Turckheim before stopping in Colmar.

Colmar looks like an outdoor museum. Ranked among the most beautiful cities in France, it is only natural that Colmar attracts summer and winter thousands of tourists who appreciate its architectural unity. Colorful half-timbered houses, some of which seem to bend under the weight of a long troubled history, its Renaissance buildings and Unterlinden museum make it an attractive city which some consider the heart of Alsace.

Day 3: COLMAR / STRASBOURG (170 km)

It is in Colmar, the wine capital of Alsace, that is located the House of Alsace wines
Here you are in the perfect place to learn all about the vineyard, AOC, grape varieties and vintage wines from Alsace in particular through an exhibition of objects wine or a video projection. Brochures are also available to direct you in your itinerary.

Departure for a day you will discover a multitude of charming villages more than each other.

The circular village of Eguisheim is a small village of winemakers holding the largest wine cooperative winery in Alsace. Here we find the seven Alsatian grape varieties: Sylvaner, Pinot Blanc, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Muscat, Gewurztraminer and Pinot Noir.

Road to Guebwiller.

Unique Alsace common to hold up four grands crus, namely Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Muscat, Pinot Gris, Guebwiller is therefore an essential step of the Wine Route of Alsace.

Arriving in Thann, you are at the south gate of the wine route.

The road to Strasbourg will be along the Rhine River, a halt to the fortified town of Neuf-Brisach is suggested.

Neuf-Brisach, unique in Europe, World Heritage of Unesco, a strategic stopover near the Rhine, built by Vauban in 1699 by order of Louis XIV for the safety of Alsace. The stronghold is a unique site in Europe. Last fortified city built by Vauban, it offers a remarkable view of the most accomplished defense system of the 17th century.

A walking tour of the fortifications is required to enjoy this architectural heritage with its ramparts and fortified towers still intact.

Arrival in Strasbourg in late afternoon and motorcycle drop off.

Strasbourg, capital of Europe and Alsace, has a historical and architectural heritage which makes it the richest city in Alsace.

Its downtown is part of UNESCO World Heritage. In addition, museums are especially rich and interesting. Strasbourg is obviously essential not only for its monuments, but also to grasp the different faces of Alsace and Alsatians.
