Guided motorcycle tour

Length: 9 days


Day 1: LYON / CHAMONIX (230 kms)

Meeting in our Lyon office and welcome from our staff. Formalities and rental contract signed by all riders

Our tour leader will ride a motorcycle and one of our staff wille drive a minibus for your luggage, for a more comfortable trip.
We also plan too one spare bike on a trailer in case of hypothetic problem!

We will be on the roads to Chamonix passing by Annecy and the Bauges Mountains.

This area is internationally renowned for its beautiful harmonious landscape and for the fantastic quality of the water in the lake which, thanks to the efforts made to protect it for over 50 years, is now the purest in Europe. The pure, clear water flows from the lake into the canals running through the "old town" (Annecy's historic centre), giving it its picturesque appearance of the "Venice of the Alps".


Day 2:  CHAMONIX / ANDERMATT
(310 kms)

Departure toward Switzerland and a first pass, the Forclaz Mountain Pass (1526m) to reach Martigny in the Canton of Valais then Sion and Crans Montana. Coffee stop in this famous station.

Continuation in direction of Brig then Fiesch.

Road toward Oberwald and Gletsh, you will discover amazing landscapes of the glacier du Rhône, roads with superb views will bring you until Boden, Nessenthal, the Susten Pass, Färnigen and finally in the little picturesque village of Andermatt. We suggest you to climb a last pass today, the Fourca Pass that enables you to see the majestic glacier, spring of the Rhone river.   


Day 3: ANDERMATT / SANKT ANTON am ARLBERG
(300 kms)

Ride till Altdorf then Weesen and Walenstadt along the Walen Lake. Continuation toward Vaduz, capital of the Liechtenstein and Dornbirn.

In the afternoon, you will ride on beautiful roads before reach Sankt Anton.   

St. Anton am Arlberg is a truly unique recreation paradise for the whole family. The cozy little town with 2,680 inhabitants has still maintained its genuine ambiance and charming atmosphere. Experience genuine Tirolean hospitality and spend the most beautiful days of the year among friends.


Day 4: SANKT ANTON am ARLBERG / BAVARIA CASTLES/ INNSBRUCK
(220 kms)

Departure for Germany and the Fussen region to visit its famous Castles: Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein, located in Bavaria.

Hohenschwangau Castle was mentioned the first time in records of the 12th century. In his whole life, the famous Bavarian King Ludwig II spent a few weeks each summer in Hohenschwangau. Today Neuschwanstein is one of the most popular of all the palaces and castles in Europe. Every year 1.4 million people visit "the castle of the fairy-tale king". The setting of Neuschwanstein could not be more idyllic. However, movement in the foundation area has to be continuously monitored, and the sheer rock walls must be repeatedly secured.

Return in Austria and continuation until Innsbruck.


Day 5: INNSBRUCK / HEILIGENBLUT
(200 kms)

Today, road through the Austrian Tyrol toward Zell am See then the Grossglockner high alpine road.

Whenever you come to Zell am See it is always a special holiday experience, no matter if it is summer or winter. Experience lakes, mountains and everlasting ice at the Kitzsteinhorn glacier. Also its location close to Großglockner High Alpine Road increased the importance of Zell am See, bringing many tourists to the region.

Arrival in Heiligenblut area.

When in the legendary mountain village Heiligenblut, at the feet of the blue-coloured glacial peaks, the mountain forests begin to change colour and sparkle gold, the most beautiful time of year for hiking begins around Austria's highest mountain, the Großglockner.
Situated at the northwestern edge of Carinthia at the border with East Tyrol and Salzburg, Heiligenblut is located in a high valley of the Alpine Hohe Tauern mountain range at the foot of the Grossglockner, the highest mountain in Austria, and the Pasterze Glacier.


Day 6: HEILIGENBLUT / DOLOMITES MOUNTAINS / NOVA LEVANTE
(315 kms)

Early departure around toward Tolmezzo by the Möll Valley until Iselsberg and its Pass.

You will cross the border and you will discover a superb descent with a series of switchbacks until the village of Timau. Then you will follow the Valley of the But River to reach the city of Tolmezzo, entrance door of the Dolomites Mountain region.

Continuation toward the magnificent Dolomites Mountains.

Passing by the Passo della Mauria then the Passo du Tre Croci and arrival in Cortina d’Ampezzo. The road between Cortina d’Ampezzo and Bolzano is an historical road, admirable for its scenery and technical characteristics. During the Renaissance it was already the trade route between Venice and Germany. The Dolomites constitute the eastern part of the Alpine Mountain Range, and It features some of the most beautiful mountain landscapes anywhere, with vertical walls, sheer cliffs and a high density of narrow, deep and long valleys.

In the end of the afternoon, arrival in Nova Levante in the Trentino Alto Adige.



Day 7: NOVA LEVANTE / STELVIO PASSE / CHIAVENNA
(270 kms)

Direction of Switzerland and the mythic Passo dello Stevio, one of the most highest of Europe at 2757 meters with 48 numeroted hairpin bends.
Continuation towrad Zernez then St Moritz.

Road to Silvaplana with beautiful lakes in background (typical of the Engadine region) until the Passo del Maloja: dark forests, blue lake and grey summits. Continuation to reach Stampa then Castasegna and border crossing. You’re in Italy again!

In the end of the afternoon, arrival in Chiavenna


Day 8: CHIAVENNA / BRIG
(270 kms)

Direction of the Passo della Spluga who enable you to entrance in Switzerland by a narrow way.

You will pass by Hinterrhein, then you will discover a lot of switchbacks to climb the San Bernardino. Little by little the fir trees will give way to the sweet chestnut trees then the vineyards!

Continuation toward Bellinzona then Locarno, on the Maggiore Lake shore. You will ride on a beautiful road along the Maggiore Lake until Verbania.

The upper Lake Maggiore area covers the northern part of the lake from Cannobio, the last town before the Swiss border, to Ghiffa, just outside Verbania. From their setting between green hillsides and blue waters, the four main places in this area, Cannobio, Cannero, Oggebbio and Ghiffa, enjoy spectacular views of the Swiss, the Lombard, and the Piedmontese shores of the Lake.

Proceed toward Domodossola then border crossing: you are in Switzerland again!

Arrival in Brig after passing the Passo del Sempione (the famous Simplon pass!).


Day 9: BRIG / LYON
(340 kms)

Departure for Martigny then road to the north toward Monthey and arrival on the Leman lake shore.

Continuation until Thonon-les-Bains via Evian-les-Bains by a nice road along the Leman Lake.

Continuation in direction of Annemasse before taking the highway until Lyon.

Motorcycle drop off in our local office in late afternoon.
