Le Castle was built around 1720, during France’s early Regency Period. The most notorious individual within these four walls was, of course, the Marquis de Sade. It was here, in 1772, that the Marquis organized the very first Theatre Festival in France. The plays in which he personally performed were shown in both Mazan and Lacoste castles. In early 2001, the Castle was bought, who after a year and half of renovation work, turned it into a real “Hôtel de Charme”. The Mazan Castle’s features a gastronomic restaurant, L'Ingénue, which serves traditional cuisine.

(150 kms)

Road towards St Remy de Provence, a nice village nested in the Alpilles Mountain, in heart of Provence.

Little city tour recommended to discover it.

Situated in the heart of the Alpilles, Saint Remy is one of the "must-sees" in Provence. Surrounded by lush green perfumed valleys, its ancient streets are lined with beautifully restored old houses... you will soon be seduced by Saint Rémy's charm! While strolling through the narrow winding streets you will discover fantastic old fountains, shady squares, picturesque restaurants and elegant boutiques.
The beauty of the countryside and the quality of light has inspired many artists, writers and painters. Without a doubt, the most famous was Vincent Van Gogh who produced more than 150 paintings of the countryside surrounding Saint Rémy de Provence.

Continuation in direction of Les Baux de Provence.

With titles such as "Listed resort", "Town of Outstanding Taste" and one of the "Most Beautiful Villages in France", Les Baux de Provence is continuing to strengthen its image as a prestige location within the Alpilles regional country park. The village of Les Baux de Provence is unique because it has a slightly more magical atmosphere and is slightly more famous than other places.

Arles is a city in the south of France, in the Bouches-du-Rhone department. A large part of the Camargue is located on the territory of the commune, making it the largest commune in Metropolitan France in terms of territory. Monuments of Arles were listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1981.
